The President of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) has visited Dyer Engineering duing his recent North east trip to see the outstanding work being done

President Patrick Kniveton, who has held the position since May 2013, visited Dyer Engineering in Annfield Plain, County Durham, to review the work the firm is doing on its apprentice and graduate development programmes.

Graeme Parkins, MD  said: “We are genuinely excited about our two schemes. There is a severe skills shortage in our sector, and these schemes demonstrate the investment and commitment we are putting into young people in our region who wish to pursue their careers in engineering.”

Like other firms in the region, Dyer has established IMechE-approved training programmes to address the problem of recruiting the next generation of engineers. Apprentices now account for 10% of Dyer’s 100-strong workforce
