Six Sigma Training successfully completed at Cummins Engines

Lee Smith ( Dyer Engineering - Quality Engineer) recently completed Six Sigma Training sponsored by Cummins Engines with his first project recently being awarded green status.

The six sigma project  “To improve first  time part to part bend 99% whilst maintaining current cycle time”  was Lee’s first six sigma project  and the  Dyer Engineering  team included ; Jim Athey (Operations systems manager) , Mick Render  (Quality Manager)   along with  Peter Edgell and Jeff  Barresford (Team  leaders) . The project  focused on  right first time  part quality consistency with key  improvements being identified  and implemented

 Black Belt Darren Tindall  (Cummins Senior SQI engineer) supported  Lee in establishing the correct 6 sigma  methodology and the team work enjoyed  between  Cummins and Dyer Engineering staff yielded excellent results.

Six Sigma sponsor Paul Winspear ( Cummins Sourcing Manager) commented that the the outcome was a fantastic achievement  with plans already in place for  Lee to complete  2 future projects  which if successful will qualify him  as a  Certified Six Sigma Green Belt.
